PRODUCT EVALUATION: The Mane Choice – Heavenly Halo Herbal Hair Tonic & Soy Milk Deep Hydration Mask

The deep conditioner is my favorite part of my wash day. I’m always on the hunt for the perfect type of conditioner or hair mask that not only moisturizes my hair but also one that has benefits that last long after it is rinsed away. I’ve seen reviews praising The Mane Choice, but I’ve never come across any of their products in any of the stores that I shop for my hair care.

Their Heavenly Halo Herbal Hair Tonic & Soy Milk Deep Hydration Mask caught my attention immediately. It’s not apart of the line specifically for type 4 hair, but the ingredients of this mask were convincing enough for me to spend $20 on the product. I think the Type 4 Leaf Clover line is something that I definitely want to try, but only because of what this mask did within one use! Also, the Type 4 Leaf Clover line is sold out online. I will have to scour every Sally’s Beauty to find any of the products.

But back to this product. Its main ingredients are a blend of Umutanga Oil, Palmarosa Oil, Yashtimadhu Root, Yucca Root, Burdock Root Oil and Soy that are supposed to penetrate the hair shaft from the inside out, leaving the hair, soft, manageable, and hydrated, while promoting hair growth. While I’m unsure of its hair growth capabilities, the other benefits were noticeable from only one use.

First and foremost, this mask is so thick and creamy! I mean it, it’s really creamy. It wraps itself around every strand and forces hydration into the shaft. I have a few too many deep conditioner and masks sitting underneath my sink and I can honestly say that this one must have all the right ingredients to address moisture issues. I’m a stickler for ensuring that my products that brag about hydration properties do not include too many protein ingredients. The only protein here is biotin – any hair needs biotin regardless. It also smells amazing.

I usually section my hair to apply the conditioner from root to tip, I detangle and work the conditioner through, and do a few two-strand twisted Bantu knots to keep my hair separated while I sit with a plastic cap. I noticed my curl pattern becoming more and more defined while applying the mask.
It’s ironic that this product is called a tonic because I feel as though it has given my hair a new vigor.

Usually, after rinsing other deep conditioners out, my hair feels soft but squeaky. Upon towel-drying, my hair would remain soft, but slightly dry. But not with this mask. Upon rinsing, my hair felt moister than I had ever known. I figured that it was a fluke, but after towel-drying, the moisture was still present. My hair was so soft, and the slight frizz that I’ve started to see in my hair had disappeared!

One of the main reasons for choosing to try this mask was because my hair has been drier than usual lately. My shedding problem is back, in a lesser frequency, and this mask promises to reduce shedding and breakage. If it can live up to all its hype, it would truly be as heavenly as its label says.
